"Community Soup" April 12th, 2016
Is there anything better than realizing you have accomplished something you didn't think you would? At The Cyclist's Menu, we seem to be asking ourselves to answer this question on a regular basis. This is not something we take lightly either. Rather, the thought of surpassing our own personal goals, well, its hard enough to consider exactly what our ultimate goals even are right now. What's important about that statement is it emphasizes the passion we have behind our desire to succeed. We are cycling, we are food, we are culture. This we know, however we are pretty sure that our dedication to a lifestyle is being drawn out in real life, the canvas being the pavement leading to a dirt road, up a climb and into the middle of nowhere...
Better yet, maybe it's waking to fresh coffee with Chef Z, followed by yoga with Coach HR. Before we know it, we are "kitted" up and heading out for the days ride. Lunch somewhere beautiful, fresh air, warm soup and grilled panini's. Dinner that night might be grilled halibut and pickled veggies, maybe Churrasco Steak and a side of roasted potatoes and yellow beets. This is what we love and have come to closely associate ourselves with.
On Friday night, April 8th, 2016, The Cyclist's Menu; our friends, family, and local community gathered to celebrate. The theme for the event was local foods, future trail development, building community, everything cycling; you name it, we all gathered to discuss the importance of these topics in and around the city of Boulder, Colorado. The plan for getting people there was very grassroots, very simple. The Cyclist's Menu has been given an opportunity to succeed this winter and we knew we wanted to say thank you. Our partners and sponsors are so important to us, each one playing a very important role in the development of our weeks of cycling with clients across the Nation and during events such as "Community Soup." What started as a blog post, to highlight wonderful people doing extraordinary things; "Community Soup" has morphed into a team driven project to tighten relationships within Boulder, CO, the cycling industry and each city and town we visit, year in and year out. We love spending time with new people, friends and family and in moments like April 8th, we all realize the importance of taking the time to spend together, its truly enlightening. The Cyclist's Menu is so thankful for everyone joining us last Friday night in Boulder at the Pro Peloton Cyclery. If the flavors of the Zocalo Market chipotle sauce has left your palette, the crisp finish of a Sanitas Brewing IPA no longer lingering in your nose; try and remember a story you shared with someone there, a moment where you introduced yourself to someone new and engaged in meaningful conversation. We cant wait to share those moments again soon, on the bike or around the table.
The evenings silent auction raised a great amount of funding for the proposed "North Sky Trail." "Plan B," which is currently the development plan The City of Boulder, Planning Division is considering and putting great thought into for construction will provide world class trail development for the Boulder Valley. What will link Boulder to Lyons, CO on dirt single track, the "North Sky Trail" will meander through the rolling foothills on the West side of HWY 36, through Joder Ranch, connecting Heil Ranch Trails for an epic 20 +/- mile ride, run, adventure! That is of course, if this current draft plan is supported and seen as the best possible outcome for the community, and the area's surrounding environmental needs. The final public hearing for this proposed plan and future development will be held on June 7th, 2016 at the City of Boulder, Council Chambers. See you there! All of this information can be viewed and is up to date in the "North TSA Newsletter," located at the City of Boulder, Open Space & Mountain Parks Division website.
Thank you Boulder, CO! Thank you to all our friends, family and growing community for experiencing "Community Soup" with us. You're all a very important ingredient!
