Iceland Gravel

in collaboration with
ICEBIKE

Cost: $6395
7 Nights/8 Days

Location:
  • 3 Nights in downtown Reykjavik
  • 4 Nights in the Icelandic highlands

The Riding: 30-80 miles with 2-5,000 ft of elevation gain, daily.
Each morning you will ask yourself if today's ride will beat yesterday's. As you come around a bend in the road or out from behind a volcanic caldera, your senses will be completely saturated; a smile will be imprinted on your face. The elements of Iceland welcome us with open arms as we endure each day with an adventurous heart. 75% of Iceland's roads are dirt, providing an unbelievable canvas for this bucket list destination. Iceland asks that we are prepared with good fitness. You'll need to have an open mind towards finding peace with wind, rain, sunshine... whatever the day may bring! The entire country closely resembles what it's like to be above tree line in Colorado or north western Canada. Weather rolls in and out extremely quickly, and when it does we'll be ready to react in whatever way we need to travel safely. Iceland Gravel calls, let's #ridebikeseatfood

THE HIGHLANDS OF ICELAND
Iceland Gravel Camp begins in the countries first settlement and capital city of Reykjavik. On December 1, 1918 Iceland became a sovereign country, ruled by the crown of Denmark. At this time it was established the "Kingdom of Iceland." Pretty radical, and believe us, it most definitely feels like a wild kingdom as you explore this volcanic landscape on your bike.

We host our gravel camp here during the month of August. It's Iceland's best time of year for summer weather. Don't let it fool you though; the land of fire and ice is unpredictable in many ways. Weather patterns are sporadic and wild. A winter storm can blow in at any time of year. But, then again, that is why we choose to travel here. Iceland Gravel Camp is big, bold and full of raw life experience. You have to see if with your own eyes to truly know what we're trying to relay.

After 2 nights in Reykjavik, the crew heads into the highlands. We spend 4 nights in the mountains , traveling from hut to hut. On the 7th day we follow a massive river valley back to civilization where we celebrate our adventure over beers at the Kex Hostel in downtown Reykjavik.
