TESTIMONIALS

In these crazy times of Covid virus, a breath of fresh air and some amazing riding, scenery, companionship, and awesome food is the answer to going insane!  The Cyclist's Menu is the real deal.  I felt totally safe at all of the meals and interactions all 10 of us participants had.  The outdoor area is spacious, open, and safe. We abided by the rules of wearing a mask at all times and totally limiting the number of us inside the camp's building. Our hosts Heidi, Zander, Yuri, Dustin, and Will were gracious and very protective. The experience was unbeatable and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a safe, comfortable, and ride challenging experience.-

If you are looking for a great cycling experience run by Covid sensitive operators;
this is it. Masks, social distancing, creative outdoor dining on top of challenging cycling in a spectacular setting look no further.

After all of my summer and early fall cycling events were canceled I was in search of something to do in the Fall. I got in touch with Heidi and had a great conversation about the Arizona Gravel Camp. She was genuinely interested in my cycling background and what I hoped to get out of the camp. In the age of COVID she outlined all of the protocols being put in place, including meals outside, tables with cohorts of 3-4 guests, mask requirements, and limiting the number of people indoors at any given time. All of the guests and our hosts were respectful and followed all of the rules. As for the riding, it was just amazing! With a group of 10 we had a wide spectrum of cycling ability. Our guides, Heidi, Dustin, Juri, and Zander were all spectacular and made sure that everyone, from the strongest riders on down, was able to get the most out of the camp. Zander’s meals were all delicious and healthy and great for getting the day started or refueling at the end of the day. On-route support was great, the stops were just where they needed to be - thanks Will for making them all so fun and taking such beautiful photos along the way. On my drive home I couldn't stop thinking about what a great time I had with everyone at the camp and started plotting my return. Thank You to The Cyclist’s Menu team and all of the other riders for making this such a special week.

"A cycling camp with a five star chef providing deliciously unique meals.  The food, on its own, made this camp a top ten life experience. However, the added benefit is the coaching you get from Heidi.  She lovingly gets you ride your bicycle at a level you did not think was possible.  There is no way I can fully express how fantastic The Cyclist's Menu truly is."

What a fantastic trip! I felt very Covid-safe, and it didn't hinder the socializing a bit. Coming home, I told my friends one of the best (of many) things about the gravel camp was the ability to SEE AND INTERACT with people after seven months of lockdown (Covid is hard on us extroverts). With the Covid test prior to camp, all meals al fresco, individual buffs for all to pull up when we got near each other, and the moderate AZ temps, it didn't feel like we had to 'suffer' to be Covid-safe. The staff were super-responsible about Covid (as well as being mad-fit riders) and I got great tips about descending and riding gravel along the way. And let's not forget they were willing to take the front when the winds got frisky!  I loved socializing in the spacious-yet-intimate Gravel Camp House Gardens with lots of spaces to spread out and hunker down around the fire. My jacket came home smelling of mesquite smoke which makes me smile every time I smell it and remember the trip. Thank you TCM!

"Heidi has an unbounded sense of enthusiasm, completely infectious, and there's nothing phony about it.  I've completed in 18 Ironman triathlons and have trained my heart out in all directions of the sport.  I began working with Heidi about three years ago, and she's introduced a new level of challenge that I never experienced in Ironman.  She's smart in terms of the workouts she provides, and very effective during 1-on-1 skill training, never leaving me to feel overwhelmed or frustrated.  We've worked on road biking, mountain biking, trail running, and I'm stronger for it.  She genuinely wants me to work hard, and she makes me excited to push myself to the limit.  It's amazing how motivating a positive attitude can be."

I recently spent 5 days in Patagonia, AZ attending my second gravel camp with The Cyclist Menu. The level of care that Heidi and Zander, and their entire staff, put into ensuring each person had a great experience was first rate. The addition of The Gravel House as the meeting place, food stop, fun camp, etc., has really upgraded the experience and gives everyone a place to congregate, find some peace and quiet, and make you feel right at home. Of course, I couldn't go on without recognizing that my experience happened during COVID. I will say that there was not one moment that I did not feel safe or concerned about my health or the health of the others around me. Heidi and Zander and their entire crew were extremely attentive to ensure that all of us (camp participants and team members) were practicing the required guidelines and safety measures to keep everyone safe and healthy. My trip with The Cyclist Menu was amazing!!! As I stated before, this was my second trip, and Heidi and Zander have raised the bar significantly. My experience was one that I will not forget!!! The experience, people, environment, food, riding, staff, was sooooo good!

"Zander is not a chef...  He is a magician.  He is an artist.
CHEF Z may not pull a rabbit out of a top hat, but he can turn ordinary entrees into exquisite meals. Like Bob Ross painted happy trees, Zander serves happy plates full of color and nutrients to fuel your next adventure.  Like your favorite book, he draws you in, keeps you interested, and even finishes with a twist."

- Mike C. - Mississippi

Words spoken resonated joy within our hearts. Conscious food was given, nurishing our bodies. Terrain was explored, awakening the spirits in our souls. all in a covid friendly environment.  A negative test was required (and much appreciated all around) for all participates. Zander and Heidi are such a lovely couple and simply outstanding hospitality. The staff was amazing, thank all of you!! Social distancing was practiced, including face coverings and outdoor spaces for meals and friendship making moments.

"I wasn't sure how your concept of the "table" was going to be the center piece to our week of cycling.  However, as the final meal comes to a close, I'm now realizing how vital eating together and sharing stories during breakfast, lunch and dinner has been.  It's those moments I'll remember.  I'm 55 years old and The Cyclist's Menu has given me one of the best week of my life."
- Mike A. - Denver, CO

My wife and I had the pleasure of attending a recent gravel camp with The Cyclist’s Menu. In these uncertain times, it was refreshing and rejuvenating to have an opportunity to ride in a safe environment with a group of similarly minded cyclists. Heidi and Zander have paid careful attention to the need to minimize risk during covid times; all of our meals were served outdoors, with careful attention to appropriate distancing and use of face coverings as needed.

"Just being around Heidi makes you want to ride your bike and actually riding with her, makes you a better rider.  Since the first day I hired her five years ago, I'm faster, stronger, and a more capable rider than ever.  Over the past fifteen years I've had some pretty amazing mountain bike rides with some exceptional people, but riding with and learning from Heidi has completely changed the way I think about riding.  She doesn't ride because it's her job, she consciously rides for all the fantastic reasons that we all ride, but sadly we sometimes forget and it's contagious."
- Jaime O. - Calgary, Canada

"I've been around Zander and his cooking at multiple times.  Zander always presented a menu that was healthy, delicious and catered to the various idiosyncrasies of high caliber athletes. But what is special about CHEF Z, is his enthusiasm, passion and friendliness in the kitchen. He is always eager to share what he is preparing and describe his ingredients and where he got them, or some anecdote about the dish. That, and the wonderful aromas, just draws people into his kitchen. "

"What an amazing week at the inaugural Cyclists Menu training camp with Coach Heidi and CHEF Z!  It was super difficult but met some great people and Heidi was motivational, inspirational and fun to be around.  If you are looking for a challenging camp with great food, look no further!  These guys are going to be very successful because they love what they do and it shows!"
- Marc K, - Denver, Colorado

"I'll forever be thankful to Heidi for her guidance and support during a recent cycling trip out West.  I was on a spiritual and physical quest of sorts to get my mind and body back in decent shape.  Heidi provided constant, awesome advice about exercise, health and life all week in a humble and personable manner.  She's a natural coach, a great person, and I will forever ride more steady and confident on the bike because of her.  Here's a cool story.  Less than halfway up my up the biggest mountain climb that I had ever attempted, I decided I couldn't make it to the top.  Heidi, after making the climb once with a few stronger riders, circled back, and joined me.  She wouldn't let me give up.  For the next 13 miles and 3,500 or so vertical feet, Heidi inspired me, coached me, fed me energy gels, and distracted me with nuggets of wisdom ranging in topics from romance to riding. She knew it was a tough ride for me, but she made me feel that without a doubt, I would make it to the top.  I still think about that ride and her encouragement when I'm out on a tough run or ride and I'm feeling tired or lazy!"
- Dan M. - Providence, Rhode Island

“Zander has an exceptional ability to connect with people to inspire and guide them to reach their physical and nutritional goals. He combines his passion and knowledge of food to orchestrate clean and nourishing meals that are worthy of any top restaurant. The combination of these talents is truly unique and as a result Zander is able to offer a truly unique and experience-of-a life-time service.”
- Daniel M. - Ontario, Canada

"The Cyclist Menu is the perfect combination of cycling, eating, and spending it with the most passionate people that truly made it an unforgettable experience.  I highly recommend their camps and can't wait for future ones!"
- Franz H. - New York City

"Heidi is a phenomenal guide, coach, and athlete.  Her energy is contagious, and her compassion and curiosity for me as her client is natural and totally genuine.  Heidi has taught me techniques that have changed the way I train for running and cycling, but more importantly how I think.  Her own success is a reflection of her attitude which she proves is the most important part of any challenge, and this energy of her's is highly contagious.  During group training rides, she can clearly outrun/ride everyone - but she puts every ounce of energy into helping her clients instead.  She leads from the back of the peloton, as effectively as she leads from the front.  If you're looking for inspiration in any form of exercise, I highly recommend Heidi to be your coach."
- Mal T. - Courteney, British Columbia

"I've been wanting to jump into a mountain bike race for a long time and after randomly meeting Coach Heidi on trail one day, I knew she would be the right person to help me achieve my goals in the most positive and fun way. My experience training with Heidi has been far more than I ever thought it could be.  I have a full time job, a family, and I practice competitive Capoeira which is so different from biking!  Her approach in training me has been extremely different than anything I've done before and I've never been so strong in my life.  She constantly listens to me and takes into account what my goals are, how much time I have for training and how my background in other sports compliment the workouts she prescribes.  From these discussions, she developed a truly personalized program that challenged me and pushed way past what I thought I could do.  She suggested a few races I could do and that could also be fun for my family to attend and watch.  My first one went perfectly!! I placed higher than I was expecting and raced much faster than I thought I was able to.  I was so well prepared and felt completely confident after all the specific training we had done & pre-riding the course together, which made the race pure fun (and some suffering too, of course!!!). My 12 year old son and wife were there with me and it was one of my favorite weekends of riding so far.  My next race is the Breckenridge 30 and I can't wait!!"
-Ysmael -Longmont, Colorado

“Lots of cooks can pick fresh, local ingredients and follow a recipe. Passion is the key ingredient in Zander's cooking. Very few chefs create a vibe in the kitchen, and a pleasure to the palate like CHEF Z. More please!”
- DJ B. - Utah

"Heidi's success as a coach is simply a result of her unique and effective special skills.  There's a consensus amongst me and her other clients that Heidi is exemplary because of her personable service.  She listens to me, and never fails to go a step beyond to make things 'perfect'.  Her optimism is contagious and her words of encouragement - genuine.  She's an incredibly strong team player with me as my coach, but also stands out on her own in the best of ways.  I am lucky to have her in my life, continually helping me to become stronger and better."
- Sandy B. - Lawrence, Kansas

CHEF Z kept our group happy and refueled all week as we explored the trails day after day. We never had to worry about when or what to eat, and he laid out every meal to support and recharge our group.
- Mike C. - Mississippi

"I hired Heidi to accommodate a private skills instruction clinic for myself, and my three teenagers.  Ask and you shall receive!  Everybody wants to be like Heidi - humble, all around incredible athlete.  She works very hard to get where she's at.  She was patient, flexible with our combination of abilities, and the way she explained and demonstrated the skill we needed in order to ride specific parts of the trail was flawless.  Did I mention none of us had ever ridden mountain bikes before?  We are all riders now!  Do yourself a favor and call ahead and reserve a spot in her mountain bike skills clinic."
- Erin F. - Bermuda Dunes, California

"Zander is a warm and friendly guy, who with quiet confidence, makes one feel a real human connection. He is a creative whiz in the kitchen and is able to crank out interesting, healthy and delicious meals. I'm certain that those who cross his path will come away better because of it."
- Stephen H. - Florida

"Heidi's patience, great instruction, and perfect 'read' of my abilities has aloud me to be physically and mentally challenged.  I couldn't have ridden Moab's Slickrock trail without her extensive knowledge and experience to help me take the right lines.  I walked away a more well rounded rider in many ways thanks to her encouragement and  well instructed skills clinic.  Her genuine love for the outdoors will make you want to love it, too.  I would highly recommend her for personalized coaching and a great time."
- Rodoph J. - Madison, Wisconsin

"CHEF Z can elevate common foods to another level.  My favorite is his tacos. OMG! Try them. It will be the best food fiesta you've ever had."
- Past Client, Cyclist/Endurance Athlete

"Heidi has been my coach for about 10 months and when we were planning for race season, she suggested we do a couple of races together.  The Ultimate Mountain Challenge at the GoPro Games and the Buffalo Creek Xterra.  At first, I was nervous that the UMC would be too hard (Kayak, mountain bike, trail run, TT), but with Heidi's creatively fun training plan and her constant enthusiasm and encouragement, I felt confident I could do it.  I took a week to join Coach Heidi & CHEF Z at The Cyclist's Menu Tucson Road Camp in January.  It was an incredible jump start to the year and my fitness!   We find time to train together about once a month.  We usually do a few intervals, then practice bike handling skills and I'm a much more efficient rider now as a result.  The UMC experience was grueling and brutal but made so much easier with Heidi's encouragement and help throughout he weekend.  Whenever I thought it was too hard, I would think about Heidi and her mental toughness and commitment to my success and that propelled me to continue and to push harder.  Ultimately, I followed through with my goals, trying my best, completing the race, and having as much fun as possible.  I'm excited to see how far Heidi's coaching will take me this summer and beyond.  She makes me want to work extra hard!!  Not only has she helped me take my fitness to the next level, she is an amazing person who cares about my success."
- Marc Kerman -Denver, Colorado

"Heidi took our family of three, including our 7 year-old daughter on a mountain bike adventure, up and around the mountains of Moab, Utah.  She was a "child whisperer" who helped teach our daughter the control and confidence she needed to be successful on the trail and more importantly, she had a blast!  If you're looking to introduce the sport of mountain biking to your children, I'd highly recommend you hire Heidi for the job."
